What is a Bobcat?

When a boy joins the Cub Scout program, he assumes a duty to be faithful to the rules of Scouting as represented in the Cub Scout Promise, Law of the Pack, and Cub Scout motto. While following these rules, Scouts should never put themselves in dangerous situations.

Earning the Bobcat badge means a Cub Scout knows when following the rules of Scouting, such as "To help other people" would put him in a dangerous situation. Cub Scouts learn about these situations as well as suggested actions for each.

The Bobcat requirement is just one of many Youth Protection activities of Cub Scouting.
